SAD NEWS: Benny Andersson says he still dreams of ABBA’s early days — “We were like one soul”

A memory that refuses to fade. A golden time forever etched in his heart.

At 77 years old, Benny Andersson no longer stands beneath the spotlight the way he once did. But late at night, when the world grows quiet, he still finds himself back in the places that shaped him:
a small recording studio, an old piano, and the three people who helped him change the world of music.

“I still dream about the early days of ABBA,” Benny shared in a recent interview. “Not because I miss the fame — but because back then, we were like one soul.”

In the 1970s, Benny, Björn, Agnetha, and Frida came together to create timeless songs like Dancing Queen, Fernando, The Winner Takes It All.
But behind the sparkle and success were real friendships, complicated love, painful breakups, and a shared passion that few could understand from the outside.

“We weren’t perfect. But when we wrote music together, when we sang… all the cracks disappeared. In those moments, we breathed as one.”

Now, with time and distance behind him, Benny admits the memories feel sharper, more vivid than ever — like echoes he never truly let go of.

“Sometimes I dream we’re back in that old Stockholm studio. Everyone’s laughing. There’s no pressure, no heartache — just the music, and the bond we shared.”

When asked what moves him the most, Benny doesn’t talk about gold records or world tours. He pauses and says, simply:

“I miss them. I miss us. Not just as a band — but as a family.”

ABBA may have gone their separate ways, but in Benny’s heart, they never truly split.

They remain — in every note he plays,
in every quiet moment,
and in the dreams that still visit him at night.

“The music lives on.
And through it… so do we.”
